Heel pain can be on either the back or the underside of the heel which causes physical discomfort and often makes walking difficult.
There can be many different causes of pain in the heel including plantar fasciitis, a stress fracture, wearing poorly fitting or high heeled shoes, tendonitis, sprains, or trauma.
When experiencing heel pain, it is important to allow as much rest for your heel as possible and avoid standing for long periods of time or activities that irritate the area. Custom orthotics may be necessary to decrease your heel pain and stretches and exercises to strengthen the heel.
